ABOUT
Alessandro Achilli is Lecturer in Ukrainian Studies at Monash University, Melbourne, where he teaches courses in Ukrainian language and culture and coordinates the Ukrainian Studies program. He holds a PhD from the University of Milan, where he studied Slavic and German Studies. His research interests include modern and contemporary Ukrainian literature, with a focus on poetry, Slavic studies, comparative literature and literary theory. In 2015 he held a Research Fellowship at Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute. His monograph on modernist intertextuality in the poetry of Vasyl’ Stus is expected to come out in 2018.
Alessandro is active in promoting and popularizing Ukrainian Studies in both Australia and his native Italy and keen to engage in international projects dealing with Ukraine and democratization processes in Eastern Europe, an area in which he has been active for several years. He is a member of the executive board of the Italian Association for Ukrainian Studies (aisu.it) and an editor of Minima Ucrainica, an online platform for Ukrainian Studies (minimaucrainica.com).
