ABOUT
Oleksandr Zabirko is a research fellow at the Slavic Department of University of Münster (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, WWU). He graduated from Taras Shevchenko University of Luhansk (Ukraine), University of Duisburg-Essen and Ruhr-University Bochum (Germany), where he obtained MA in English, German and Slavonic studies.
His dissertation project “Literary forms of geopolitics” analyses the concepts of spatial and social order in the contemporary Russian and Ukrainian literatures. The study focuses on the literary constructs of “Russian World”, the Holy Rus, Novorossiya and Eurasia, which dominate Russian political discourse of the recent years, and compares them to the spatial model of East-Central Europe and the topos of “Europeanization” in the texts of Ukrainian authors. Alongside with literary studies his research interests include theories of nations and nationalism, history of ideas, political and legal culture, cultures and literatures of Eastern Europe, etc.
