ABOUT
Dr Nicholas Ross Smith is a recent PhD graduate in Politics and International Relations from the University of Auckland. Democratisation has been a central focus of his work to date, with a number of publicons which look at the EU’s promotion of democracy in Armenia. More recently, Nicholas has looked at the trajectory of democratisation in Ukraine, assessing the internal and external impediments to Ukraine achieving a functioning democracy (a forthcoming book chapter). Nicholas is a Kleroterian (an advocate for Athenian style democracy) and has also written about the deficiency of modern electoral democracy in New Zealand.
