Maryna Shevtsova is Ukrainian economist, political scientist, and civil society activist. She holds a Candidate of economic sciences (PhD equal) degree from Dnepropetrovsk national university, Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, and MA in Gender studies from Central European University, Budapest, Hungary. Maryna now is working towards a PhD in political sciences at Humboldt University, Berlin. Her dissertation titled “Exporting European values: promoting LGBTI in third countries (cases of Ukraine and Turkey)” is dealing with the human rights of LGBTI people and LGBTI movement in European neighborhood. Her next research project is dealing with Muslim LGBTI refugees from the Middle East countries in Turkey and EU member states. Maryna was affiliated with Middle East Technical University and worked for the Center of Eurasian Studies (AVIM) in Ankara, Turkey. She is also a Senior Non-Resident Associate Fellow at the Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation (Kyiv).
