Jakob Mischke is a PhD researcher at the University of Vienna. He graduated with a Magister Artium degree in Eastern European Studies and Economics at Freie Universität Berlin. Coordinated the Joint Master’s Degree Program “German and European Studies” of National University of Kyiv Mohyla Aademy (Kyiv/Ukraine) and Friedrich-Schiller University (Jena/Germany) and taught International Relations in Kyiv. Research fellow at the Europa-Kolleg of Münster University (Germany) working on Ukrainian legal history. Since March 2016, he is enrolled in the Doctoral Program “Austrian Galicia and its Multicultural Heritage” at the University of Vienna (Austria), where he is writing a PhD-thesis about the relationship of science and nation in the life and work of the Western Ukrainian legal scholar Stanislav Dnistrians’ky (1870 – 1935). His further research interests lie in the field of Ukrainian political and societal developments in historical and Systems Theory perspective. He is also active in several German-Ukrainian networks as PRAVO, the Berlin Group for Human Rights in Berlin, and the German Association for Ukrainian Studies.
